Tri State Gate To our contract and non contract customers: we hope you will find the following information useful.
We are currently offering our customers a special price on the installation of battery backup systems. Battery backup systems will allow your gates to operate, even if the main power is out (for a limited number of cycles, due to battery size). Due to our area’s vulnerability to power outages, it is always a good idea to have one of these systems installed. This will help prevent the need to leave your vehicle in order to manually release your gate operators (see below) if power is lost. The complete cost for one of these kits, including parts and labor, is $1,995 plus tax.
It is highly recommended that you know how to open your gates in the event of a power outage, even if your system is equipped with a backup generator or a battery backup system (there have been occasions where these devices have failed). Knowing how to manually release your gate operators will prevent your family or others from being locked in or out, especially in an emergency. For our contract customers, we will go over this procedure free of charge. For non contract customers, there is a flat fee of $85.00 plus keys plus tax.
We have received calls regarding the time gates take to open and close, as well as concerns about gates not opening together at the same time. The Under Writers Laboratories have set strict guidelines regarding mandatory photocells, time limits on gate operator’s speed, and gate leaf delay to avoid pinning a person, child or animal between gates. Note that two motors on a double gate system (either hydraulic or electric) will never run at the exact same time.
Please call our office prior to starting the following work, preferably in the planning stage, to avoid disturbing any gate lines or devices: Repaving the driveway, Installing an electric dog fence, Outdoor lighting, Sprinkler systems, New phone systems, and Electrical upgrades. In the past, these projects have caused some customers to incur additional costs in repairing or replacing components damaged during the projects.
During certain times of the year, we receive an extraordinary number of service calls in a short period of time (major thunder storms, lighting and other weather related incidents). As always, our technicians will do their best to respond to each call as quickly as possible (prioritizing our contract customers first). Please feel free during these times to check with our office on their time schedule. When requesting service pleases leave a detailed message of problem and a phone number where we can reach you. We will approximate the service time when you call. If calling after hours, please allow time for our technicians to respond as messages to cell phones can be delayed by the provider.
We are in a region that is prone to major lighting storms. Most lighting strikes damage the low voltage devices on the gate system and occasionally the high voltage end. Last year, as in previous years, gate phones, gate computers, photo cells, and loop detectors have been destroyed, and the replacement costs can be quite high. Because of this, we recommend contacting a licensed electrician to install lightning protection on and around the gate system (such as lightning rods, or larger surge suppressors). Please contact our office for more specific information. We will provide your electrician with the manufactures technical department for approved surge suppression systems. Please note there is no guarantee these devices will cover all situations.
Sincerely, |
